Frome Market proposals: update 3

by adamboyden on 3 February, 2012

I think this is great news for Frome – we have the impetus for a partnership of district and town council, and for local investment in the market, to expand the market to make Frome town centre an even better place to shop and visit. We now have a period ahead in which the councils will assess the available feasible options in full consultation with the people and traders of Frome.  The ‘on the ground’ consultation starts next week, and a website and online survey should follow on www.mendip.gov.uk and http://www.frome-tc.gov.uk/soon.

See Frome Times also – http://www.frometimes.co.uk/blog/?p=1407 and Somerset Standard for more.

Please contact me – cllr.boyden@mendip.gov.uk – and your other local councillors for further details and to let us know your ideas for expanding the market as well as any concerns. We will be responsible for taking all issues raised by residents to the Steering Group, to complement the consultation by MDC officers that starts next week.

I am particularly interested in the pros and cons of the alternative locations that need to be considered, and will be working with Mendip officers on this.

We also aim to hold a public meeting on this in 1 or 2 months to present progress and gather views.

Shadow Portfolio Holder for Governance, Assets and Public Spaces
