Running again, and other news

by adamboyden on 14 July, 2017

Dear all,
I am running the Frome 10k again this year, trying to raise money for Fair Frome (who run the food and furniture banks) and also specifically to raise funds for a Changing Places facility for Frome, so that people with severe and profound disabilities will have somewhere to ‘go’ to spend a penny or two in Frome with dignity (as Fair Frome will be holding any funds). Please read more on that here https://adamboyden.mycouncillor.org.uk/2017/02/09/campaign-for-changing-places-in-mendip/ – and if anyone would like to support my run on Sunday please visit https://localgiving.org/fundraising/adamfrome10k/. I may be running disguised as an athlete this year! For  more info on Sunday’s event please see http://fromehalfmarathon.co.uk/.
Tomorrow, on Saturday there is a fair at the College fields (for Frome Freemasons) which will raise money for Mendip YMCA. Another incentive to go is that David Warburton MP is in the stocks and you can throw sponges at him, for a small fee!
I can also tell everyone that the mobile phone mast proposed at Grange Road was refused permission by Mendip’s planning officers because of the adverse impact on the character of the area. I know many people objected to this, and several other people who have poor phone reception wrote in support. Another location will need to be found now – please see here for details: https://adamboyden.mycouncillor.org.uk/2017/07/14/grange-road-mobile-phone-mast-refused/.
On Monday there is a Mendip District Council meeting and also a Frome Fair Housing meeting. Please also add your comments on the proposed pedestrian island at Bath Road, which is an improvement to the dropped kerbs proposal athough not a signalled crossing which I originally asked for (see here). Please see last month’s news for details at – https://adamboyden.mycouncillor.org.uk/2017/07/06/junejuly-news/
Also if anyone is likely to be affected if the Monday – Thursday evening Bath-Frome 267 bus service is cut this autumn (as Frome Town Council’s recent refusal to extend their contribution to the subsidy that has kept it going from April – September, see here http://www.somersetlive.co.uk/news/somerset-news/frome-could-lose-evening-bus-184362threatens the service, which I and other councillors have campaigned to keep), please let me know – I would like to hear from you.
I’m also still waiting for an update on the Showfield, will hopefully update everyone next time.
Thank you for reading.
