Well, here is the result of last Thursday’s council election – after an intensive campaign, I have been elected as one of your two new Somerset County Councillors for Frome North division. The result (see here) was declared at the count at the Bath and West Showground on Friday afternoon after several hours counting.

Thanks to everyone for your help and support! Commiserations to the other candidates too, including my Lib Dem district councillor friends Janine Nash, Damon Hooton and Richard Pinnock, and Alex Lawrence-Berkley and Christine Cockroft who would have made great county councillors. There were many good candidates. Due to the immense support across Somerset, I’m going to be part of the brand new Lib Dem administration at County, and then the new unitary Somerset Council in April next year. I will also work with Dawn and our Green colleagues in the rest of Frome to represent Frome and the villages as well as possible.
