This important green space is now managed (and mostly owned) by the Town Council for the community and with the local community. Local residents should feel more of […]

Since 2011,I have campaigned for the old Showfield to be protected and improved. Conserving and improving the old Showfield

by adamboyden on 22 April, 2015

The old Showfield is the most important open space in this part of Frome, for dog walkers, joggers, children, and people walking to and from town. Over the last few years I have been working to raise residents’ issues with Mendip District Council, who lease the area, about improving management, security against encampments, tackling flygrazing, […]

Stonebridge litter pick success

by adamboyden on 25 March, 2015

The Stonebridge community litter pick on Saturday 21st March was a great success. Over twenty volunteers took part including a number of younger members of our community. They all worked enthusiastically for an hour making a significant difference to the area.  Most of the rubbish we collected was in the bushes and brambles next to paths, open spaces and in the stream.  […]

I received calls and emails from local residents at the weekend to inform me that a group of travellers, about 6 vehicles, had moved onto the old Showfield. I quickly informed the landowners (Frome & District Agricultural Society), Mendip District Council’s enforcement officers and assets department (as leaseholders), Mendip’s Cabinet members responsible, the Police, Frome […]
