‘… Let’s get together and feel all right. …’
The first public meeting of the ‘One Frome’ forum is at 7.00pm, Tuesday 29th October at Frome Medical Practice.
This is a new initiative of Mendip District and Frome Town Councils, where councillors and officers from all three councils that serve our area (including Somerset County Council) will meet to discuss important issues for the town, and try and agree how to deal with them more effectively.
The first meeting will deal with ‘How can we improve our street scene’.
Local organisations have been invited, as well as councillors, and as the meeting is public, anyone can attend. For further details please contact Paul Wynne, Town Clerk, Frome Town Council (wynnep@frometowncouncil.gov.uk), 01373 465757.
Meetings are planned to be quarterly. For now it will feed into the councils’ decision-making, and if successful could take on decision-making powers itself.
I think this should mean that the three councils work together better, because they need to, to respond to issues affecting the town, and that problems between different councils can hopefully be resolved quicker than at present. This is what I and other councillors for Frome at Mendip (and ‘Vision for Frome’) have been asking for since the suspension (abolition) of the East Mendip Community Partnership in spring 2011, and I am glad it is finally happening. Please see http://adamboyden.mycouncillor.org.uk/2013/06/03/new-frome-forum-announced/ for a bit of background.
So please come along! The agenda is below:
