A quick update on a few things:
Frome Town Council’s Showfield community orchard consultation took place this afternoon again on the old Showfield – so apologies if you missed it, but please see my July newsletter
here for information and how to have your say.
If you didn’t know already, Lilley’s Cider are having an open day on Tuesday 7th August between 3pm and 7pm, on their cider orchard between Packsaddle Way and Cuckoo Lane to discuss their plans for a cidery, shop and cafe (and perhaps, 2 houses),. You will be able to see the current plans and talk to Chris and Mark Lilley about them, and light refreshments will be available under a small marquee at the top of the hill. In February (see
here) I reported that Lilleys Cider had submitted a response to Mendip’s Local Plan Part 2 (see here
http://www.mendip.gov.uk/CHttpHandler.ashx?id=17604&p=0) which requested the land between Cuckoo Lane and the Packsaddle estate be allocated for mixed (employment and housing) use and outlined their plans for two new houses and a new purpose built cidery, along with a café/farm shop/community space and apple and pear orchards there. I met the Lilleys shortly after to discuss their plans, which are now taking shape. Please let me know what you think.
Also, after being alerted to a problem with the Stonebridge stream where vegetation clearance was undertaken the week before last and most of the litter and cuttings were left in the stream (thanks Jackie!), Mendip officers assure me that they are on the case and it should be cleared up soon. Please let me know if this is not the case!
The broken bollard at Swallow Drive has also been passed on to the relevant team at Mendip after I chased up a resident’s alert (thanks Ernest).
