Anna Sabine for Frome & East Somerset

by adamboyden on 16 June, 2024

At the end of January, Lib Dem members selected local businesswoman Anna Sabine to be the Lib Dem General Election candidate for Frome & East Somerset (see here Anna Sabine selected as Parliamentary candidate for Frome & East Somerset (bathneslibdems.org.uk)).

Anna’s website is here Frome and East Somerset Liberal Democrats (anna4fes.uk).

To help elect Anna as your next MP please contact the team at Volunteer – Frome and East Somerset Liberal Democrats (anna4fes.uk) or email contact@anna4fes.uk.

Lib Dem leader Ed Davey came to Frome on Thursday 30th May to support Anna as part of his national battlebus tour, and tried out the Ultimate Slip n Slide waterslide near Beckington whilst announcing a Lib Dem manifesto commitment on funding better mental health care (particularly for children and young people) as well as emphasising the importance of having fun. He said the Lib Dems have a fantastic chance to win Frome & East Somerset seat – see Lib Dem leader says they have ‘fantastic chance’ of winning Frome after waterslide splash – Somerset Live.

Ed Davey fell into another waterpark lake recently while promoting the Lib Dems’ policy on a tougher water industry regulator (see here).

Tactical voting websites advising people how to defeat the Conservatives are recommending voting for Lib Dem Anna in Frome & East Somerset for several reasons: (1) in the Somerton & Frome byelection last year Lib Dem Sarah Dyke won with 55%, beating the Conservatives on 26%, the Green Party’s Martin Dimery on a Green Party record 10%, and Labour lost their deposit with 3%, and there is significant overlap with the new Frome & East Somerset constituency; (2) the local elections in 2022 and 2023 returned Lib Dem majorities in Somerset and B&NES Councils, including several Lib Dem councillors in the FES area (see here); (3) in 2019 the Conservatives won both predecessor seats, with Lib Dems second in Somerton & Frome (ahem) and a close third in North East Somerset (here), but Labour have stated that Frome & East Somerset is not a battleground seat for them and so will not be spending significant resources to win the seat – the Lib Dems are.
