Why I am standing for election again in Frome College ward

by adamboyden on 8 November, 2013

I am delighted to report that yesterday, Thursday 7th November, the Frome Liberal Democrats selected me, Adam Boyden, to stand as the Lib Dem candidate for the Frome Town Council byelection in College ward.

As a vacancy arose at Frome Town Council in College ward, due to the recent resignation of cllr James Godman (Conservative), and 10 electors asked for a byelection, there will be a by-election in the next few weeks (on Wednesday 18th December).

I am already one of the two councillors for College ward on Mendip District Council. I live nearby and know many of the residents and community groups in the area well. I am already working to listen and respond to residents, and help people sort out problems and bring out positive changes to the area. I have challenged the Conservatives strongly on flytipping and recycling, and successfully steered a cross-party motion on fracking at Mendip. I have tried to help Frome Town and Mendip District Councils work better and more constructively together to improve Frome. Locally, I am working to improve the Showfield, playgrounds, the leisure centre, local road safety, and to care for the environment.  I feed back to residents regularly and encourage people to take part in town activities. Over the last two and a half years I have tried to be as positive and proactive as possible, and to form good working relationships with everyone I can find.

When the opportunity arose to stand for election for Town Council, I didn’t think I should stand back and avoid the challenge. I have tried to make a difference at Mendip, and now I want to try and help Frome that bit more by representing local people on the Town Council as well.

My record of action and local newsletters can be found online at www.adamboyden.mycouncillor.org.uk. I am hoping for broad support, from anyone and everyone, whether ‘in the party’ or not.

To help me, or to contact me on any issue, please email aomboyden@yahoo.co.uk, call 07809 284817 or follow @adamboydenfrome on Twitter.

If you can help with: hosting a posterboard outside your house, or delivering leaflets or in any other way, please do get in touch.

Thank you,

Adam Boyden
