Success – The 267 bus to Rode and Sainsbury’s is saved!

by adamboyden on 8 April, 2014

I have just been told by county councillor Sam Phripp (Lib Dem, Frome North) that following the protracted campaign by passengers in Frome and Rode, First Bus have at last decided to abandon their plans to bypass Rode and Sainsburys in Frome!

First Buses have are now submitting an emergency registration to reinstate the 267 on the old (current) route. This will mean that Rode will still be served, and Sainsburys in Frome. Rather than changing the times, the whole 267 service will also revert to the current (old) timetable.

The changes previously proposed (which miss out Rode and Sainsburys) will still go ahead on the 13th April because an application cannot be made quickly enough, but they will be reversed within 30 days.

Congratulations to all the campaigners (including Sam himself, Rode village residents, and Tracey Harding and Denise Bull in Frome), and thanks to First Bus for changing their plans. This just shows what community action, and committed local councillors, can achieve together.
