Packsaddle parks in Town hands

by adamboyden on 12 July, 2018

I have been informed by Mendip District Council that the long-term leases for Frome Town Council to lease the park at Packsaddle Way, Chapmans Close games court, and the play area at Tower View (opposite the Key Centre at The Mount, in Keyford ward) from Mendip have finally been completed.

I instigated the process in 2015 and got MDC to agree, against an officer recommendation to sell the sites for housing. This is so these open spaces can be improved for the community with investment from Frome Town Council and much more involvement in what happens here from local residents (see here).

Last year the Town Council promised to organise a public vote so you will decide how to improve your open spaces once they had the lease  will consult local people as they have already started to do (see here) and come up with a funded plan to improve and manage these areas.

I will keep you informed. This is good news!
