I want to thank every one of the 17,017 people who voted for me in the General Election in December, including those who have previously supported other parties. I am incredibly grateful for all the support. This increased our vote share by 5.4% to 26% with one of the largest swings in the South West, reduced the Tory majority and re-established the Liberal Democrats as the clear challengers to the Tories here in Somerton and Frome. 

Of course, more than 50% of voters nationally supported parties in favour of a people’s vote on the Brexit deal. Under a fairer proportionate voting system we would not need tactical voting and we would not have a Conservative Government. But we are where we are.
