Mendip District Council will soon be installing some new childrens play equipment in several play areas across the district which are in need of refurbishment and where there has been no upgrade or replacement of items in the last five years.
A mixture of different types of Multi Play Units (MPU), have been recommended by the team working alongside the contractor with the size of the locations considered. In Frome:
Additional items may also be installed. The project will be funded through Mendip District Council, with some supplementary funding from Section 106 Agreements from new developments in Frome.
The equipment is expected to be installed early next year (January/February 2023) depending on weather conditions. Examples of the multi-units are below (please note there will be some colour variations). The equipment being installed in the Hawksworth Close play area has taken into account the feedback from local parents in 2021 (please see here) along with other works recommended by the play inspector.
Other play areas to receive new play equipment in the district are: Glastonbury: Paradise Estate, Pendragon, and Abbey Park; Shepton Mallet: Draycott Road; Street: Pursey Avenue; and Wells: Parsons Way, and Bignall Rand. Thanks go to the Neighbourhood Services team at Mendip District Council for sorting this out.
I hope this is all very welcome, and look forward to these local play areas being improved, but please get in touch with any comments to me at cllrboyden@gmail.com.
Thanks,
Adam
